Love red lentils!

Red lentils are a great alternative for impatient and lazy cooks like myself.. They are ready much more quickly than other beans (my grandma used to cook black beans over night!) and are also easier to digest and very versatile. Red lentils can be made into soups, spreads, stews and yes, even desserts!

Being high on fiber, minerals, B-vitamins and protein, they are definitely worth getting to know better and are specially import an for vegans and vegetarians. Most legumes need to be pre-soaked, but not lentils. Wash them in cool water and cook them using spices like asafetida, cumin seeds or ginger to make them easier to digest.
